LONG LONG AGO

Long, long Ago

By Christine Katsama Wang.

(The best bed time story for children 7 and under.)

Long, long ago there lived a tortoise shell cat called Balina. She was a beautiful female cat. She was called Princess Balina. She was an elegant, lovely princess cat. She wore a sparkling tiara-which had golden jewels around its surface. Her eyes were emerald green. She LIVES for music. She loved any classical music-from Mozart to Alexander Uno. Whenever thunder starts, the clouds will play a beautiful tune.

But one day, the thunder started to rumble and Princess Balina waited for the tune to happen. But instead of a tune-it did loud, sudden thunder roars! Crashes of lightning! "Oh no!" cried Princess Balina with terror. "What music of art-with distracting crashes of waves?" That's when Princess Balina started to cry-loud, deep sobs. She ran out of the castle and went through a Mystic Forest. The meadow was surrounded by unicorns, all grazing in far sight. Princess Balina sobbed as she ran from the forest…to the mountains…and then to the seas…all the way, sobbing with terrifying fear. Her paw tripped over a twig. She yelped and fell over. The waves crashed again and again.

Finally, she met up with a small, little tabby gray cat called Mimi. "Hello, what are you doing here? I like your tiara…" complained Mimi. "Thank you," said Balina gracefully.
